TPS & FPS Suppression
Many people at home object to receiving telephone calls from companies they do not know. By registering on the TPS (Telephone Preference Service), the number of nuisance calls should be reduced.
It is illegal within the EEC to call a domestic telephone number of someone who is on the TPS Register unless they have specifically requested that you do so, or where the nature of a pre-existing business relationship makes such communication clearly acceptable (for example, someone booking an appointment and providing their telephone number could expect to be called if there was a problem with the appointment).
Companies can also register their details on the Corporate Telephone Preference Service (CTPS) which prohibits the making of any telephone calls other than basic research communications to that telephone number.
Data Cleansing Services can compare your database with the TPS file and flag all records where the individual or company has signed up.
Companies and individuals can register on the FPS (Fax Preference Service) not to receive any Fax communications. It is illegal to send faxes to these numbers without a specific prior agreement.
Data Cleansing Services can carry out FPS Suppression by comparing your database with the FPS file and flagging all records where the individual or company has signed up.
It is also illegal to send faxes to any consumer addresses or non-limited partnerships without their specific agreement to receive such communications.
